

Achrons of Pi Boule, the Arkansas affiliate of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, gathered at the Venue at Westwind Dec. 7 for their annual Christmas gala, “Christmas Is For The Archosai,” observing the season and honoring their wives.

Pi Boulé is the Arkansas Chapter of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, founded in Philadelphia PA in 1904 by a small group of accomplished African American professional men, all college graduates, seeking a beneficial venue of like-minded individuals. The fraternity is the oldest African American Greek letter organization in the United States. Chapters are known as a Boulé. Individual members are known as “Archons.”
New members are added by invitation only. In keeping with the fraternity’s traditions, member candidates are recognized, high-achieving individuals at or near the top ranks of their professions, businesses, or other organizations.
Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity has grown to 142-member Boulés in the United States; Nassau, the Bahamas; and London, the United Kingdom; with more than 5,000 active members.
Pi Boulé, chartered in 1922
In 1922, Pi Boulé was the 16th chartered Boulé in the nation, initially representing Little Rock and Hot Springs. The induction of the first PI Boulé Achrons was on December 22 in the Little Rock Masonic Templars Building; Bach Ben Club.
Pi Boule was inactive for a short period. It was reactivated representing Pine Bluff and Little Rock in 1975 under the leadership of Attorney and Grand Sire Archon Wiley Augustus Branton, Sr. Pi Boulé now meets monthly in Pine Bluff or Little Rock.
Pi Boulé today has 33 Archons, including:
- Three HBCU presidents
- The Mayor of Little Rock
- Members serve on committees and offices for local, regional, and Grand Boulé

- Medicine
- Business
- Education
- Judiciary
